Champions for Children Scholarship -
We regret that the Champions for Children Scholarship program is unable to award scholarships for the 2010-2011 academic year. We hope to secure additional funding to restore scholarships in the future. We appreciate the valuable investment of time being made by teachers, students and others, and hope that mentoring experience is making a lifelong difference for all children involved. Thank you.
Students across the State of Mississippi are making a difference in the lives ofother young people by mentoring, tutoring, and coaching other young people. Champions for Children will reward those students for their outstanding service to Mississippi.
What is the Champions for Children Scholarship?
Championsfor Children Scholarships are awarded to high school seniors across the State of Mississippi who have demonstrated a commitment to improvingthe lives of young people through mentoring.
What Are the Criteria?
- High School Senior
- 100 hours or more of mentoring begins on June 1 (the summer before your senior year in high school).
- Mentoringmust be done on a volunteer basis. If you receive any monetarycompensation for mentoring, you are not eligible for this scholarship.
- Must continue your education at a 2 or 4 year U.S. accredited institution
- Mississippi Resident
- Mustcomplete a Champions for Children Scholarship Application form. If using a photocopy, make sure you have a complete form.
- Four (4) letters of recommendation
One letter signed by an adult supervisor of the mentoring program(s) verifying the 100 hours. If you participate in more than one program, you must submit letters from each program supervisor. Your mentoring hours must total at least 100.
One letter signed by an adult character reference
One letter signed by the High School Principal of your school
One letter signed by the High School Counselor of your school - Essay (must be type-written)
